About Dr. Kamal Ahmed

Dr. Kamal Ahmed, born on August 15th, 1977, in Dighal Bak, Nabigonj, Habigonj, Bangladesh, is a Professor of Neurology at North East Medical College Hospital (NEMCH), Sylhet. His educational journey started at Dighal Bak High School, where he achieved remarkable scores in his Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) and Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C) from M.C College, Sylhet. He pursued his medical education at Sylhet M.A.G Osmani Medical College, completing MBBS and subsequently specializing in Medicine, obtaining his F.C.P.S in Medicine from BCPS in July 2009. Subsequently he obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in neurology from National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital (NINS&H), Dhaka Bangladesh in July 2019.

Dr. Ahmed gained practical experience through internships and residencies at prestigious institutions like Sylhet M.A.G Osmani Medical College Hospital, Dhaka Medical College & Hospital, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Additionally, he underwent specialized training in pleural biopsy and diabetes management sponsored by WHO. He also took ‘Hand on training on NCS and EMG’ arranged by Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and performing these procedures is three prestigious institutes in Sylhet.

His professional career at North East Medical College, Sylhet, includes roles as a Registrar of Medicine, Resident Physician, Assistant Professor and Professor of Medicine and currently, Professor and Head of the department of Neurology.

Dr. Ahmed's research contributions cover diverse medical topics, including medicine and Neurology. He is also an active member of world renowned society ‘American Academy of Neurology (AAN)’ since 2021.
